Dr Patricia Coughlin is a clinical psychologist with over 35 years of experience in teaching and training dynamic therapists, as well as treating patients in her private practice. Over the past 30 years, Dr Coughlin has become an expert in the teaching and implementation of Intensive Short term Dynamic Psychotherapy, a form of treatment developed by Dr Habib Davanloo, that has been accumulating an increasing evidence bases as both cost and clinical effective across a wide spectrum of patients. Dr Coughlin has written three seminal books in the field: Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy: Theory and Technique (l996); Lives Transformed with Dr David Malan (2007) and Maximizing Effectiveness in Dynamic Psychotherapy (2017). She is currently Visiting Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and has held faculty positions at Albany Medical College, Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine and Northwestern University School of Medicine. She lectures and trains mental health professionals internationally.
