Stanley B. Messer is the former Dean (2001-2016) and a Distinguished Professor in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. He has published extensively on the application of psychodynamic theory and research to the brief and integrative therapies and on the issue of evidence-based practice. Dr. Messer has also lectured and given invited workshops on these topics in several international venues, including Argentina, Brazil, China, Israel, Norway and Poland. Two of his most recent volumes are Case studies Within Psychotherapy Trials: Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Methods, and Essential Psychotherapies: Theory and Practice (3rd ed.). He is Associate Editor of the online journal Pragmatic Case Studies in Psychotherapy and President of the international Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration.
